6 Minute English - Can you trust your own eyes?

Funny things that our own mind can play tricks on our self, right?
In this episode, they mentioned the memories are a reconstructive process, which reminds me of a book I've been studying recently. It's about Behavioral Neuroscience. they show you how your brain structure and neurons looks like and how do they do their work. And it is true that we don't really store memories, we have the connection that can make the same information happen in our brain again, and that connection are always changing, and that's why we lost some information from time to time and make up some fake memory to fill in the lost part.

The scary things is we don't even realize that we've edited our memory at all. Because we're doing that unconsciously, but even though our memories are not always accurate, it's still a acceptable reference source because we can only recall things from our memories, so there's nothing we can do about it  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Overall, it's an interesting episode, I suggest someone who is nerd enough like me to dig into it, the only struggle is I can't recognize those "brainy terms", so it might take a bit look-up in the dictionary to fully understand it.

  1. Surprise, we actually "edit" our memory? This should be a very interesting episode to listen to, and to further explore. Whey not create a link to the episode on your blog? If your readers are interested in it, they could have an easy access to it.
